And now we have TWO!

In the days and weeks after my hasty departure from Stockton to begin my time as a student at USC Dental, Cheryl was left with the arduous task of packing up our lives and getting it moved down to LA. At the time, we had two cars - the brand new Yaris, and Cheryl's peppy red Honda Civic. As her time in Stockton dwindled down to nothing and I secured an apartment for us in Culver City, her final task was to load up the Uhaul and rent a trailer to tow the Honda. As fate would have it, her little red Honda was stolen the night before she was planning on leaving. To make a long story short, she returned the trailer to Uhaul, headed down to LA, and we both pocketed the insurance money. That extra cash ended up going towards our living/experiencing expenses for the next several months and as this blog can prove, we made the most of our time together in this exciting place called SoCal. Although there was no need for a second car, due to Cheryl's unemployment, we knew the fun would eventually end and she would need to get a job, which meant we would need to buy another car... unless she got a job at USC; And wouldn't you know it, God wasn't through blessing us yet! The next 3 years went by and our only mode of transportation was good ol' Yari. She is a champ and has never faltered, with the exception of a dead battery (of which I take full responsibility). Over those years, we were involved in 4 accidents totaling nearly 12,000 dollars worth of damage and fortunately, with the exception of one time, we were never at fault. This meant we got a rental while our baby was put back together.

Ouch! NOT MY FAULT.

As time went by, we realized that the additional money that we had been saving (thanks to only having one car) should eventually go towards a second car, but what kind?  Finally, Labor day weekend Cheryl and I stopped by an auto mall on our way back from Disneyland :) and there she was...

2008 Lexus Rx350
Keyless Liftgate and one touch close feature
Fully Loaded with Navigation
It took some serious haggling, but we eventually got the price down to where we wanted it and took her home.  As if to put our buyer's remorse to rest, we woke up the next morning to find the Yaris had a flat tire; I guess we're taking the Lexus to school today!  Not only has this purchase been a blessing for the convenience of two cars, but we hope to eventually start a family and will need the extra car room.
