An Escape From It All

Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived.

Cheryl and I have been in a whirlwind since she was employed at the dental school. We are there everyday from 8 till 5, Monday through Friday, and it's taking some getting used to. We now find ourselves having barely enough time to eat dinner, relax for a bit, then get ready for bed. Somewhere in the midst of it all we find time for reading our bibles and running errands, but we are at the point of going to the gym @5 am to fit in a decent workout. Suffice it to say, we needed a breather. And what better place to get away from all the hub-bub of the big city than in cute, quaint, QUIET - Red Bluff. Although it was just for a weekend, we both felt slightly refreshed - a week would have been better. I've been on spring break for nearly two weeks and will soon begin my 3rd trimester on the 5th of May. If I could post a picture of my summer schedule you would understand, as I have, that dental school truly begins in May. Anyway, I'll have plenty more to blog about once I get into the thick of it, assuming I have any free time. Cheryl's been a trooper and hasn't complained much about going to work while I "relax" at home. I think I would make a great stay-at-home husband. I'm learning to cook some of our regular meals and I even pack her lunch in the morning. Enough of that, on to the good stuff. Here are just some pictures I snapped of Cheryl's parent's home up in NorCal.

On Saturday we celebrated Alethea's birthday at a park in Chico. I'll admit it, my idea of Chico was COMPLETELY wrong. I have never seen such a city full of beautiful trees and buildings, complete with a town square - the quintessential American city. I was amazed. Redding, you now have some competition.

And of course, the real reason for the trip, little Alise.
