HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Happy New Year Everyone. May 2009 be a year full of Love, Laughter, and Good Health. Cheryl and I started the new year off with a bang. Cheryl's good friend Kelly works as a waitress at the Yard House, and generously invited to a friends and family Rose Parade event. The restaurant overlooks Colorado Blvd, giving us a perfect view of the entire parade. We had to get there a little early, around 6:15 am, but it sure beats sitting outside in the cold all night - plus, breakfast was provided: Hash browns, eggs, garlic toast, and fresh fruit. We spent the rest of the morning enjoying the parade and taking a bunch of pictures. I can't imagine this new year starting off any better than this. Here are just some of the amazing floats at this year's Rose Parade.

Hats off in Celebration (Asimo the Robot): Honda

At the Movies: Trader Joe's

Entertaining Expedetion: RainBird

Making a Splash: City of Mission Viejo

The Rose Queen and Royal Court: Macy's

Hope Grows: Vera Bradley
(All women on the float are breast cancer survivors)

The Miracle Workers:
(Portrait of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan done entirely out of seeds)

Go Trojans!

Bollywood Dreams: City of Sierra Madre

Double Feature: City of Burbank

Going to the Fair: Odd Fellows and Rebekah

Entertaining our Imagination (Leonardo Da Vinci): Western Assest

Hollywood: City of Los Angeles

Garden of Oz: Bayer Advanced

Jack-O-Licious: Jack in the Box (One of my favorites)

That's alot of gear, and a whole lot of trash!

I agree, this was a great way to start 2009. It was well worth the early trip back and the wee morning hours. How blessed we are to have Kelly in our lives to provide us with this opportunity. It's going to be hard to top it in 2010
