New Digs

So this will be our new place.  Kinda Cozy isn't it?  After Cheryl and I decided that we would move to Fresno so that I could practice dentistry with my dad, we had the stressful job of looking for a place to live.  After looking at a few apartments, we both had the same hesitations: We were both sick and tired of always hearing our neighbors, both beside us and above us, and wanted a nice quiet place to call our own.  Since buying was out of the question, we started looking for homes to rent.  Unfortunately, with the added space comes extra expense and we again found ourselves in a pickle.  After a while, my dad mentioned that he had a property that became available and would appreciate renting it out to someone who wouldn't trash the place.  One look at the outside and we knew this place had potential...

Beautiful backyard with a storage shed and lots of fruit trees.

An amazing pool with a lagoon feel thanks to the overhanging cypress pines.

... But the inside needed some serious TLC.  AND PAINT!

Like most rentals, the color theme throughout was "Insane Asylum White".

So much white!!
Lets get some color in this place.
Thanks Tom, you're doing a great job.
To add depth and contrast we went with "warm nutmeg" on the far wall,
and "comforting" on either side.  See, cozy!

We liked the color scheme in the living room so much that we duplicated it in the  family room.
Much better!
Up next, the master bedroom.

There's my favorite taping lady.  The paint didn't really even smell.
Better to be safe than sorry.

There's Susie putting the finish touches on the corners.
Although this may look like pink, it's actually "brandied apple"
- which matches some colors in our duvet cover perfectly.
The rest of the walls were painted "Antique white and really set-off the bleached white trim and floor boards.
After a crazy busy weekend of painting is was nice to just sit back and enjoy the fruits of our labor.  Cheryl and I will be back in a few weekends to finish painting the hallway.  Then, the guestroom and baby's room.  Ugh, I'm getting tired just thinking of it.  So far so good.

Thanks Mom and Dad for making the trip down and helping us paint. What a fun weekend, even if it was full of hard work!
