In an attempt to stave off cabin fever, Cheryl and I followed up on an anonymous tip for night-time activities and headed to The Grove: Shopping, Dining, and Entertainment. We were pleasantly surprised. Up until now, we had come to the understanding that apart from Rodeo drive in Beverly Hills (see Nov. 8th ), which is too rich for our blood, and 3rd street Promonade in Santa Monica (see Jan. 19th), which is too San Francisco-ish, there were no other outdoor shopping/dining areas near us. The Grove is a perfectly balanced collection of higher-end boutiques and cafes, mixed with familiar brand name stores (Crate&Barrel, Apple) and chain restaurants (Cheescake Factory).
On top of that, there is a beautiful fountain with a water works show in coordination with music. Think: The Bellagio is Las Vegas but on a smaller scale.
Anyway, we're just happy to have another place to hang out and shoot the breeze.
