A light at the end of the tunnel...
So I'm sitting here, rubbing my neck, wondering. If dental school is suppose to teach us about proper posture, among some other more relevant material, then why, are 6 hours of testing, do I feel like I need a chiropractor? In sim lab, each with our own cubicle, we have a monitor which sits at just the wrong height, forcing you to look up at an awkward angle (think 2nd row from the screen in a movie theatre). Not only that, but while taking our MCQ's (Multiple Choice Questions), we are hunched over, those of us who are taller than 5' 2'', in ridiculously small and uncomfortable lecture desk-chairs. Anyway, finals are 80% done. I say this because both the COMBOT (COMputor Based Operational Test) - 128 question - and MCQ's - 200 questions - take the lionshare for both difficulty and length of time spent studying. Bringing up the rear, it's the T3 (Triple Jump). I am assigned a specific patient case and have 24 hours to research, organize facts, formulate ideas, compose learning needs, and put together a presentation for two faculty members some time the following morning. Although it may seem daunting, the two 100%'s I have received reassure me of my methodology and public speaking/debating skills. As much credit as I'd like to glean from those scores, I have to include the fact that there is ALOT of subjectivity behind those grades. This means that the difference between a 100% and a 75% relies on little more than the individual(s) sitting across the presentation room. Sad I know. Anyway, midterms are almost over, I can see the light.
