The Day I Voted

As patriotic as I'd like to say that I am, I really did nothing special. I exercised my right as an American to vote - for the first time. Yes, I was eligible for the 2004 election (Bush's second term), but I was away at college. Anyone who has had to track down and mail in an absentee ballot while living in a different city will understand, especially for a college student with little motivation for anything other than school. Anyway, we all know how much of an ordeal it is to redecorate the White House for the new First Family, so I would've voted for Bush anyway. The reason for this post is to voice a question/concern with today's political atmosphere.

California is a democratic state; as Blue AhEm..liberal..Ahem as a state could get, with the exception of maybe Massachusetts - but I'm just guessing. The electoral vote almost always follows the peoples vote so... if you do the math along with me ... this means that my Rupublican ...AhEm..conservative..AHeM.. vote is rendered virtually useless. Am I right? Comment and let me know why I should even vote for President, unless of course the candidate I choose is a Democrat. Correct me if my conclusion is flawed.

** Update**

Senator Barak Obama is now the President Elect for the United States of America. I congratulate him on his succesful campaign and pray that God will continue to work through all things in order to fulfill His will for this country and our lives.

Although my vote for president might not always 'officially' count, I still have a say in the local propositions which affect my fair state. God Bless America and the democratic process which makes this nation so great.

Happy Election Day!!

P.S. Special thanks to both Starbucks and Ben and Jerry's for the free 'Election Day' coffee and ice cream. Apparently, I didn't need to wear the sticker ;(

Unfortunately your conclusion regarding our Republican votes for president here in California are all too valid...
On the bright side we can make a good case that all of our fellow Californians are in the same boat with us since the president elect was decided and proclaimed before our poll's even closed. :]
