Weekend with the Cousins

This summer has been unseasonably cool. Although I am not complaining, our apartment doesn't have air conditioning, I would like the weather to at least feel like summer. Without that heat, we haven't been feeling the urge to pack up the car and head to the beach. Fortunately, we finally got our summer weekend and decided to organize a trip to the beach with some of the family. Andrew and Alex hadn't been over to our place in ages and Adrina was in town for a 2 week dental explorers program at USC.

Saturday night was spent playing some video games and barbecuing up some dinner. It was good to see that as we all grow up and have our own lives, we can still find time to get together and have fun. These relatively care free days are numbered and it wont be long before Cheryl and I have to pack up and begin a new chapter of our lives. It just seemed like yesterday that the boys were helping us move into that apartment - crazy.

Sunday was our beach day and because of the perfect weather, we knew we weren't the only ones with that idea. We tried to head out early but by the time we got to beach, the streets were packed with cars. After 20 minutes of combing the streets for a spot, we had all but given up. Then, on our last pass, Cheryl saw an opening that would have been a tight squeeze for a Smart car. After about 50 manuevers and 2 bumper rubs, we were in. I'm pretty sure we defied the laws of physics, but hey - WE GOT A SPOT! (*Notice Alex in the background scratching his head like "how in the heck did he fit between these cars")

The rest of the day was spent soaking up the sun, boogie boarding, and attempting not to stare at the guy in the red Speedo (do you see him?). For some reason he felt it necessary to stand up and stretch every 5 minutes. Gross.

Thanks for hanging out guys! Today wouldn't have been the same without you.

I've got patience, but not the patience to squeeze into a spot like that.

I have that book! Who's tackling Piper? Have you read "Desiring God" (the first book) yet? Great stuff...

We both are alternating reading it. We haven't read the first one yet, but have found the second one helpful in answering some of struggles we've been going through.
