A day of rest

So a lot has happened in the last 24 hours. Today was daylight savings time and Cheryl and I woke up exhausted. Needless to say, we didn’t get out of bed until 10 o’clock in the morning, BUT really 9 o’clock – jeez, give me my head back. Didn’t God himself rest on the seventh day…

2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. Ge 2:2-3

Ha, I knew it. Except that Sunday marks the beginning of the week, not the end, making Saturday the seventh day. Whatever. We got up and had breakfast together, started some laundry, then I decided to make the most out of the day and wash and wax the car. By early afternoon the car was spotless, inside and out, and the paint had an awesome mirror shine. The Coleman 10in power waxer/buffer and Craftsman 2 ½ gallon wet/dry vacuum make quick work of a dirty vehicle.

Oops! This is pre-Cheryl. Bad boy with a Hot car. Actually, in my defense, I'll ask you to draw your attention to the side-skirt of the vehicle, near the tire.

There we go. Look at her shine.

I later asked Cheryl if she wanted to take a drive and, one thing led to another, now I’m staring at a 10 gallon fish tank with two new additions to the family. Meet Julius (Orange) and Baloo (Blue).

Cheryl named Julius after a “Mall” drink, the Orange Julius. Get it, orange fish, orange Julius… ah forget it. My job was to name the blue fish, and so, a tribute to Disney’s Jungle Book, Baloo. I know, how original, but in my defense, Baloo the bear was blue also. I’ve been eager to get the fish tank back up and running since I left Stockton in such a rush but didn’t know if it was worth the trouble. Well, I convinced myself that the calming effect of running water and peaceful fish was enough to go out and replace Frank. I was really pleased with the heartiness of Cichlids, Frank, and am convinced that they are one of the most colorful non-marine fish available – plus they’re cheap. So, enter Julius and Baloo, new additions to the Shamlian household. May you provide us with joy and tranquility for many years to come. Cheers.
