So today, Cheryl and I decided to be adventurous and took a drive down the Pacific Coast Highway. We refused to let another beautiful southern california day go by while we were indoors. We packed up some snacks and beach paraphenalia and hit the road. 20 minutes later, we arrived. I had remembered a story Cheryl told me about the afternoon she spent with some family friend's friends (just go with it) who live in Torrence. They had gone to Hermosa and rented some "bicycles built for two" (everyone sing it) and rode along the beach. So, thats exactly what we did.
Needless to say, soreness is already on its way but regardless we had a blast . After we worked up an apetite we decided to get some food from Ruby's, a quaint 50's style diner that serves some pretty good burgers and peanut butter cup shakes (Cheryl's eyes must have rolled back in her head half a dozen times). Next time, we stick with Oreo Cookie. Anyway, it just seemed like we needed an outing to just rest and spend some quality time together.
On our way through Manhattan Beach we got a lucky parking spot right next to a beautiful little park overlooking the ocean and watched the sunset together. It got pretty chilliy so we used the beach blanket to bundle up together. I can't remember the last time I watched a sunset, probably on the cruise ship during our honeymoon. I believe God purposefully made the sun set quickly in order to make the moment all the more special. I don't think people would stop and enjoy it nearly as much if it lasted an hour. Simple glimpses of God's wonder and majesty. If the creation is so breathtakingly beautiful, how much more wonderful and amazing must the creator be. Anyway, it was a great day. Thanks God.
P.S. We would have had some sunset pics but our camera battery died. We're glad it did.

Thank you for such a wonderful day. I had so much fun and can't wait for a summer full of days like that. I love you and know we'll make the most of our 4 years down here in Southern California!
