Exploring SoCal: California Science Center

Well, it's that time again kiddies. Our motivation to further explore the "City of Angels" was stimulated by the re-piping project our apartment complex is undergoing (along with the 8 hours a day our water is turned off). So, we left the house at around noon and headed for the California Science Center. The cost was minimal with a $6 dollar parking fee and a "donation" to get into the exhibits. For the most part it was a high school education wrapped up within a patially "under-repair", dust covered 32in. tube television displaying, hands-on learning, environment. Incredibly cliché , yet still just as fun. Eveything from the foam wings and turbine fans (explaining the concept of 'lift') and LAPD Helicopter in the Air Space Museum to the earthquake simulation and drunk driving experience in the Science Center.

Cheryl hit several trees :(

The best part of the trip was the Body Works exhibit, which technically opens tomorrow. The attendant at the entrance told us we could go in, so we did. It wasn't until the very last specimen that Cheryl and I were approached by some official who told us that not only was the exhibit NOT open to the public yet, but that we weren't allowed to take pictures. oops. I'll let the picture speak for itself but sufice it to say, those are real human bodies, "plastiqued" with incredible detail, and artistically displayed.Cheryl was not amused. I was. Although I felt like bathing in a vat of antiseptic hand sanitizer, on account of the rediculous amount of school children on field trips, I felt the day was well spent and was proud of the fact that Cheryl and I got out and enjoyed LA, once again.
